Hey You
I've never had much talent at all in the arts, but occasionally I get artistic ideas that I think are pretty good.
When I was 14, I became a huge Pink Floyd fan because the Pulse tour was under way and therefore, all of the local classic rock stations were playing Pink Floyd songs non-stop on the radio to promote the concert in New Orleans. I can still remember the first time I heard one of their songs. It was one of those moments in which time seems to stop and everything around you kind of falls away.
I was hanging out with my best friend, Bill. We were sitting around in his room, playing Double Dribble on the Nintendo. All of a sudden, the radio station, 100.7 FM starts playing Hey You from "The Wall." I fell in love instantly.
Over the course of the next few months, Bill and I really got into Pink Floyd. We got some of the most obvious records, and listened constantly.
My artistic idea came to me one day when we were hanging out at my house. I thought it would be cool to make album covers out of Legos. So, we did just that. I built the Legos into what they needed to be and Bill did the painting. He was always pretty good at drawing and painting.
Today I was cleaning out a bunch of old boxes that are stored all over the house, looking for things to throw away and things to sell on Ebay. This is one of the keepers I found:
Recently, I had another good artistic idea that I don't think I can execute on my own. I had this idea for a screenplay that I feel very passionately about. Unfortunately, I don't know enough about the topic to actually write it myself, so I told a friend of mine who does some writing. I think he should do it because he is very knowledgeable about this particular topic. He would be great at it, and the script could be killer. We may even be able to collaborate on it.
I'm not going to say what the idea was though, because it could still happen.
