About Blogs (Part I)
I tend to give myself a hard time occasionally because this isn't a topical or theme-based blog. In my limited experience with blogs, I've noticed that topical blogs tend to be more popular and sometimes better...not always, but sometimes.
As a matter of fact, I actually prefer non-topical blogs because I would like to know about a person rather than hear about how much he/she hates this or that political figure or celebrity.
It is for this reason that three of the first blogs I ever read are still the ones I read the most. And by the most, I mean constantly.
Rather than being strictly topical blogs about one given subject, these three bloggers write honest, funny, and insightful posts about their lives and the things happening around them. Each of them may come back to the same topic pretty often, but not all the time.
So, while still saying everything that needs to be said about a given topic such as, say politics, I still feel like I'm reading a letter from an acquaintance rather than a diatribe from some a-hole. These three blogs (in the order I discovered them) are:
1) Slow Adventures in Slothville;
2) Surgical Strikes; and
3) Brian Damage
I've read a number of really good blogs, but I have to say that this is my top three.
