Here I am...Rock you like a hurricane!
Well, Lindsey, Mojo and I weathered the storm quite nicely.
As Hurricane Ivan slowly lurched toward the Southeastern Gulf states, we piled into the car and headed out of New Orleans to Lafayette, where we stayed at my in-laws' house.
We left at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, not to arrive in Lafayette (about 2.5 hours away) until 4:00 a.m. Wednesday morning. Eight hours. It was re-god-damned-diculous. But we made it okay and that is what's important.
After the storm passed, we left Lafayette at 5:00 am on Thursday and were able to get home by 7:00 am.
I tell you, coming home to New Orleans after the week's evacuation was really something. 90% of the city evacuated. Seeing New Orleans look like a ghost town was a surreal experience, one that I won't soon forget.
Luckily for New Orleans, no major damage has been done. Power at our house was only out for twelve hours, and we were only home for six of those.
Our condolences to everyone in Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida who were not so fortunate.
